“What is the difference between full spectrum CBD oil and CBD isolate?”
Many people are concerned about using a product that contains any amount of THC, so many manufacturers opted to take the THC out of their products as a solution. But the question still remains how do CBD isolates compare to full spectrum CBD products?
What Is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolate means the product contains only CBD cannabidiol and no other hemp compounds. In CBD isolate, purified CBD is extracted from the hemp plant and isolated from other naturally occurring plant cannabinoids. During the extraction process CBD, other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids that are found within the plant are initially extracted, then to create a CBD isolate the solution is refined further taking out all other cannabinoids and plant compounds leaving only CBD.
- Pure CBD
- 100% free from THC or other cannabinoids
- Doesn’t include other plant compounds such as terpenes
- Refined further than full spectrum CBD
- Produces an isolated CBD product
- WADA and USADA approved substance
What Is Full Spectrum CBD Oil?
Full spectrum or whole plant CBD extract means the product contains CBD and other cannabinoids that are naturally found in the hemp plant. A full spectrum product also contains other parts of the plant, such as terpenes which effect the smell and flavour of the extract as well as containing essential oils. Along with CBD, a hemp-derived full spectrum CBD product will contain trace amounts of THC and other cannabinoids. A full spectrum CBD product must legally contain less than 0.3 percent total THC.
Full Spectrum CBD:
- Contains CBD and other naturally occurring plant compounds
- Contains less than 0.3 percent THC
- Undergoes fewer processes than CBD isolate
- Works together with other plant cannabinoids for an “entourage effect”
Although CBD isolate is a more concentrated form of cannabidiol, this doesn’t mean that it has greater effects. Some research indicates that full spectrum CBD combining the hemp plants other cannabinoids, terpenes and essential oils all working together to produce what is known as “the entourage effect.”
